Local Area

Highland Wildlife Park

The Highland Wildlife Park, situated literally next door to the farmhouse,  offers a diverse range of animals for all the family to spend time together to watch in native environments. From native species such as the capercailzie and the Scottish wildcat to those from further afield such as the Amur tiger and Polar bear. The tigers are definitely a popular attraction but you will be able to judge for yourselves, with a drive around the reserve in your own car and then investigate the walk-round area on foot at your leisure.

Ruthven Barracks

Ruthven Barracks is located on the edge of the Insh Marshes and Kingussie and was built for George II’s troops after the Jacobite uprising of 1715 and was subsequently attacked twice in 1745 and 1746. Today it is open to the public all year round.
